The Fashion-Forward Fundraiser Will Be Held On Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Hilton Denver City Centernn(Denver, November 28, 2018) – Today the Children’s Diabetes Foundation announced exciting details for their 41st Annual Spring Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show, benefiting research and programs for people with type 1 diabetes.nnThe Spring Brass Ring Luncheon & Fashion Show will be held on April 4th at Hilton Denver City Center. The event is being co-chaired by couples, Steve & Shelley Lucas and Neil & Barb Oberfeld, who are also members of The Guild, a volunteer group of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. This year’s fashion show will feature esteemed New York designer, Rebecca Minkoff.nn“The Spring Brass Ring is one of our favorite ways to bring the Denver community together to honor our type 1 heroes as we reach for the ‘brass ring’, the cure for type 1 diabetes” said Sara Santacruz, Guild Program Administrator. “We are beyond excited to have the inspirational Rebecca Minkoff present her collection on the runway, and are looking forward to an incredible event.”nnIn addition to the luncheon and fashion show, event attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exclusive experiences, luxurious travel packages, one of a kind sports memorabilia, and more at the live and silent auctions. Event proceeds will benefit The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation to raise funds for research, promote diabetes awareness and education, assist families in need, provide scholarships, and sponsor activities for children and their families. The Guild, with more than 300 dedicated members, continues its fundraising efforts in the tireless fight against diabetes.n

Featured Designer, Rebecca Minkoff

nAn industry leader in accessible luxury handbags, accessories, footwear and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff’s playful and subtly edgy designs can be spotted around the world on young women and celebrities alike.nnAfter developing an affinity for design while in the costume department in high school, Rebecca Minkoff moved to New York City at only 18 years old to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer.nnIn 2001, Rebecca designed a version of the “I Love New York” t-shirt as part of a five-piece capsule collection, which appeared on The Tonight Show and became an overnight sensation.nnIn 2005, Rebecca designed her first handbag, which she soon dubbed the “Morning After Bag,” a.k.a. the “M.A.B.” This iconic bag ignited Rebecca’s career as a handbag designer and inspired her edgy, feminine creations in the years to come. Rebecca’s success was further enhanced by the support of her brother and the company’s CEO and co-founder, Uri Minkoff, who helped usher in and pioneer the company’s industry-leading social media efforts.nnAfter four years of designing statement-making handbags and accessories with her trademark leathers, studs and hardware, Rebecca returned to her roots of apparel design and introduced her first ready-to-wear collection in 2009.nnToday, Rebecca Minkoff is a global brand with a wide range of apparel, handbags, footwear, jewelry and accessories, as well as men’s accessories under the label Uri Minkoff. In the spring of 2017, Rebecca Minkoff Watches was launched, reimagining the category through their decidedly downtown, Rock and Roll aesthetic.nnIn 2011, Rebecca won industry recognition when she was awarded the Breakthrough Designer Award from the Accessories Council. She is an active member of the CFDA and supports multiple philanthropies. In August of 2017, she was announced as a member of the first-ever New York State Council on Women and Girls, in the company of other female industry dedicated to bringing women together to enact positive change.nnIn September of 2018, she established the Female Founder Collective, a network of businesses led by women that invest in women’s financial power across the socio-economic spectrum by enabling and empowering female-owned businesses.nnRebecca is married to actor and director Gavin Bellour and they reside in Brooklyn with their three children.n

Event Co-Chairs Steve Lucas & Shelley Lucas

nSteve Lucas, Chief Executive Officer of Marketo is a technology industry leader, published author, and philanthropist with more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software. Steve shares a successful 25-year marriage with Shelley Lucas, who is also an active philanthropist in the Denver community and has served as the President of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.nnAt the helm of Marketo, Steve recently led the sale of his company to Adobe for $4.75 billion dollars, one of the highest multiples ever paid for a cloud software organization. Prior to Marketo, Steve held a number of senior leadership positions at global software firms including SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft, and BusinessObjects. He has co-chaired various federal government technology leadership initiatives and served as a board member for the American Diabetes Association, TiVo, and SendGrid. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Colorado.nnTogether, Steve and Shelley have two children, Lynnie and Kenny, who both attend the University of Utah.n

Event Co-Chairs Barb & Neil Oberfeld

nBarb and Neil Oberfeld have been married for 25 years. They have 2 daughters, Blake, who is a first year medical student at Harvard Medical School, and Cameron, who is a sophomore at Goizuetta Business School at Emory University.nnBarb is a committed community volunteer. She currently serves as the 2018 President of The Guild of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. She has served in various capacities on The Guild Executive Board for the past 4 years.  nnNeil is a principal shareholder of Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm with the distinction of being the largest U.S. domestic law firm. Neil serves as co-chair of the firm’s National Leasing Practice group and concentrates his practice in real estate, joint venture, fund formation and other investment transactions. Neil’s community service includes former Trustee and current committee member of the Rose Community Foundation, past Chair and Commissioner of the Governor’s Commission on Community Service, past Board Chair and current Emeritus Board member of the University of Denver Bridge Project, and past Chair, current Board member and National Commissioner of the ADL.n
