The ATDC Conference has been an integral part of education and case-based study of upcoming and new diabetes technology for over 25 years. This is an annual course designed to help healthcare providers caring for patients with diabetes, including but not limited to: endocrinologists/diabetes specialists, internists, pediatricians, family physicians, physician assistants, medical residents and fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCES).

Attendees will be given practical pearls after each lecture to implement techniques and technology into real-life patient care. They will be updated on new guidelines for implementing new therapies, especially for cardiovascular and kidney disease prevention and treatment. Long-lasting CGMs with no calibration needs are on the horizon, and workshops will help guide providers to choose the best options for their patients and be exposed to the many different devices currently on the market (including a hands-on technology session for adult providers). Patients with T1D and T2D need better glucose control with or without an increase in BMI. Attendees will be encouraged to move away from the old model of A1c to Time-in-Range (TIR) and the benefits of this new mode of diabetes management. Patients who are overweight or obese is becoming a greater issue during the COVID-19 pandemic, and require a greater focus on nutrition, exercise, and complication prevention instead of treatment after complications arise.

As one can expect from this 5-day conference, there will be enough time for attendees to interact with industry-sponsored booths in the conference hall.

The conference is hosted by the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes in conjunction with the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. It is supported by the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and both industry sponsors and grants.
